Care & Maintenance Guide for Your Essenar Sculpture

Your Essenar bottle art sculpture is a handcrafted work of art made from premium glass. With a little care, it will remain as stunning as the day it arrived for years — even decades — to come. This guide covers everything you need to know to keep your sculpture looking its absolute best.

Everyday Care

Dusting

For indoor sculptures, regular light dusting is usually all that's needed. Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth or a clean, soft-bristled brush (like a clean makeup brush or artist's brush) to gently remove dust from the surface and any detailed areas of the sculpture.

Avoid feather dusters, which can snag on fine details and potentially scratch the glass surface.

Fingerprints & Smudges

Glass naturally shows fingerprints, especially on smooth surfaces. To remove them, lightly dampen a soft microfiber cloth with clean water and gently wipe the affected area. For stubborn smudges, a small amount of glass cleaner on the cloth (never sprayed directly on the sculpture) works well.

Always dry the sculpture immediately after cleaning with a separate dry microfiber cloth to prevent water spots.

Deep Cleaning

Occasionally your sculpture may need a more thorough clean, especially if displayed in a kitchen or outdoor area where grease, pollen, or other residues can accumulate.

  1. Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water — never hot, as sudden temperature changes can stress glass.
  2. Add a small drop of mild dish soap.
  3. Using a soft cloth, gently clean the sculpture's surface, working carefully around any fine details.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean lukewarm water.
  5. Pat dry immediately with a soft, clean towel and allow to air dry completely before returning to display.

Never submerge your sculpture in water or place it in a dishwasher. The heat and pressure can damage both the glass and any surface treatments.

Handling Your Sculpture

Glass art is more resilient than it looks, but proper handling protects both the sculpture and you.

  • Always use two hands when moving your sculpture, supporting it from the base.
  • Avoid gripping fine details like fins, tails, or wings — these are the most delicate parts of the sculpture.
  • Set it down gently on a soft surface when moving it, never on hard surfaces without padding.
  • Keep away from edges — sculptures should be placed well back from the edges of shelves and surfaces.

Display Considerations

Indoor Display

Essenar sculptures thrive indoors. For best results:

  • Place on a stable, level surface away from high-traffic areas where they could be knocked.
  • Avoid placing directly in front of heating or air conditioning vents, which can cause rapid temperature fluctuations.
  • A non-slip mat or felt pad under the base protects both the sculpture and your furniture.

Outdoor & Garden Display

Essenar sculptures can be displayed outdoors in sheltered locations such as covered patios, garden niches, and protected courtyards. For outdoor display:

  • Choose a spot protected from direct impact of rain and wind.
  • Bring sculptures indoors during severe weather, freezing temperatures, or storms.
  • Clean more frequently to remove pollen, bird droppings, and environmental residue.
  • Avoid placing in areas where they could be knocked by garden equipment or foot traffic.

Sunlight

Natural light is one of the most beautiful ways to display glass sculpture — it creates stunning light effects and makes the glass glow from within. However, prolonged direct sunlight can cause glass to act as a lens and concentrate heat. For safety, avoid placing sculptures where they could focus sunlight onto flammable materials like curtains or paper.

Storage

If you need to store your sculpture temporarily:

  • Wrap it carefully in soft, acid-free tissue paper or bubble wrap, padding all protruding details generously.
  • Place in a sturdy box with additional padding on all sides.
  • Store in a climate-controlled environment — avoid attics, garages, or storage units with extreme temperature swings.
  • Never stack anything on top of a boxed sculpture.

What to Avoid
